The west is famous for the unique Baobab Avenue near Morondava and for the wonder of nature : the Tsingy, World Heritage Site of Unesco.
In the west it is very dry and hot.
KIRINDY TROCKENWALD
Kirindy, a dry forest full of ghosts.
A poorly explored forest area where researchers continue to find very special and as yet unknown animal and plant species. Kirindy is home to the fossa, a large cat-like predator.
TSIRIBIHINA RIVER
Pre or post program.
The starting point is the city of Miandrivazo.
The unique nature, the extremely friendly people, the everywhere untouched sandbank, will make this destination an unforgettable experience for the visitors.
Until BELO “final stop”, about 160 km will be covered on the river.
BELO SUR MER
is located about 80km south of Morondava. It is accessible only by a sandy road or also by boat across the Mozambique Channel.
Nearby is the still little visited Kirindy Mitea National Park. Since this is probably the hottest region of Madagascar, one finds here exclusively dry forest – with the endemic thorn trees and the numerous baobabs. Of course, you will also find various animal species, especially lemurs.
Belo sur mer has beautiful coasts for swimming and the trips to the numerous offshore small islands invite for snorkeling. Other water sports are also possible.
Belo is known for its traditionally built wooden ships, mostly loaded with their cargo of salt, sailing leisurely across the sea.
